There were days I needed support from my friends and family to pull me out of the black holes and push me to do better, while other times I pulled my socks up, and decided to do it all myself. It was my own will and determination that led me to take this decision of changing my unhealthy lifestyle into a healthy one. My mantra for weight was to eat right not to eat less and it helped me a lot. During my weight loss journey, I never skipped a meal or tried to eat less. My dinner: At night I used to have pulses and grains to maintain my daily protein intake level. Along with that, I had green vegetables, a bowl of salad and probiotics like curd, yogurt or buttermilk to increase the count of good gut bacteria and improve the digestion process. My lunch: For lunch, I had chapati made of Bajra, Jowar or multigrain (I avoided wheat altogether). I also had coconut water or watermelon in the morning to stay hydrated. My breakfast included eggs (boiled, omelette, scrambled) along with some good sources of complex carbs and healthy fats like ghee, butter, cheese.
I don’t believe in fad diets and hence I made sure the diet was customised according to my needs. My breakfast: I shifted my focus to sustainable eating habits that I could follow easily without giving up. The journey was no doubt difficult, but I was focused and passionate to reach my goal. Being eating and physical inactivity during lockdown took a serious toll on my health. But it was only during the pandemic I realised that I have gained a lot of weight.
